VIXT

Art from the other side.

VIXT makes large-scale interactive audiovisual installations. They have appeared at Any Piece of Grass (APOG), Bass Coast, and Burning Man, including an official Artery placement at the 5:30 / Esplanade corner in 2024.

The work is slow on purpose. The visuals morph rather than escalate. The sound drifts rather than builds. Stay a few minutes and you'll see one dimension of it. Stay longer and you'll see another.

The practice has long roots: decades working with emergent systems, the hypnotic effect of overlapping rhythms, and a deep appreciation for altered perception.

The pieces engage that interest through coordinated multisensory feedback. A small bank of unlabeled luminous knobs in your hands; visual and auditory response in unison. The combined effect is much more than the sum of any single channel.

Working language

Each piece pairs a physical structure with custom software driving generative video and sound. VIXToscopes are kaleidoscopes — mirrors you look into. VIXToramas project an image you look at.
