VIXToscope I — Gateway is the origin: 8’ mirrors arranged in a triangle, with mesmerizing images and an evolving soundscape controlled by knobs and keys. 12” oculus: a kaleidoscope so big you could get your head in it. The first VIXT piece to bring music, video, and tactile control together at serious physical scale for exhibition.

We were camp art, at Airstreameri & Whatnot 3:30 & F, right across the street from Naked Heart on one corner and Pour Decisions Winery on the other. Our very first burn — Mudburn — yes, people thought we were insane for bringing art on our first burn. I’m so glad I did.

Even though we were out in the suburbs, we got a serious amount of traffic walking by and hundreds of people playing with it. I got some incredibly positive feedback about the piece and became determined to bring back a bigger, cooler kaleidoscope the next year.

And down the rabbit hole I fell…
